With the former Prime Minister of Poland, Professor Marek Belka, and the Ambassador of Poland, Mr. Wojciech Unolt

It was a special pleasure to hold an open and fruitful discussion during an event organized by the Embassy of Poland in Albania, in cooperation with the Impact Assessment Institute (IAI) and Creative Business Solutions (CBS), with the former Prime Minister of Poland, Professor Marek Belka, and Ambassador Wojciech Unolt. The discussion focused on the challenges Albania faces on its path towards European integration.

The lack of a free media and a functioning rule of law system, as well as widespread corruption, constitute serious obstacles to this process. The fact that the European Union has suspended IPARD funds for Albania due to misuse and corruption is a clear indication that there can be no real integration without transparency and accountability. We cannot move towards Europe without confronting and punishing the phenomenon of theft of public funds.

Poland has always been a steadfast supporter of Albania and our European aspirations. This activity also aimed to share Poland's successful experience in its integration process, as a valuable example for our country.

Albania has many friends and allies who love it in the European Union. What remains in our hands is to fulfill our obligations with dedication and seriousness, in order to deserve our place in the European family.
