CEC decides to limit spending on local election campaign in Kosovo

The Central Election Commission in Kosovo held today the 37th meeting of this year, chaired by Kreshnik Radoniqi. At the beginning of the meeting, the CEC made a decision to limit election campaign expenses for political entities that will be certified for participation in the Local Elections for Mayors, which will be held on October 12, 2025.

According to the CEC's decision, a political entity, in the municipality where it will participate in the elections, has the right to spend up to 2 euros for each voter registered in that municipality. Political entities cannot exceed the limited value of expenditures in the municipalities in which they are certified to participate in elections.

Also, the limits of the maximum allowable expenditure for the election campaign apply to any goods and services spent in the respective municipalities for the purposes of the campaign regardless of the time of purchase or provision of services.

This calculation was made based on the Electoral Regulation no. 07/2024 for the election campaign, monitoring the election campaign as well as relying on the data of the preliminary list of voters in each municipality, according to which the total number of voters in our country is 2,071,544 voters. Following the meeting, the CEC approved the budget plan for the organization of the 2025 Local Elections. The budget approved by the CEC is in the amount: 16,126,364 euros.
