Two people have been arrested by the Police in Tirana after being accused of illegal possession of weapons and use of narcotics. 

Police say a 38-year-old man has been arrested after being caught with a firearm and narcotics in his car while driving on "Ali Demi" Street in the capital. His 34-year-old friend, a passenger in the vehicle, was also arrested for failing to report a crime. 

Also, during the police checks in the 38-year-old's apartment, 1 firearm, combat ammunition, a quantity of 304 grams of cocaine, around 131 ecstasy tablets, 3 electronic scales, and weapon parts were found, which were seized as material evidence. 

The two young men have been escorted for further procedural actions.

The police operation codenamed "Check Point" is finalized.

The 38-year-old was caught red-handed and handcuffed while carrying a firearm, a pistol, and narcotics in a vehicle.

The passenger of the vehicle was also arrested for failing to report a crime.

A firearm, a pistol, combat ammunition, a quantity of 304 grams of cocaine, approximately 131 ecstasy tablets, 3 electronic scales and a vehicle were seized.

The services of Police Commissariat No. 1, following the controls to capture wanted citizens, those who circulate with weapons or narcotics, based on information provided by police intelligence, have organized and finalized the police operation codenamed "Check Point".

During the operation, on "Ali Demi" street, the Police services stopped the vehicle with the driver, citizen K. K, and the passenger, citizen JK.

During the physical and further search of the apartment of citizen KK, 1 firearm, a pistol, combat ammunition, a quantity of 304 grams of the narcotic substance cocaine, approximately 131 ecstasy tablets, 3 electronic scales, and weapon parts were found.

At the end of the procedural actions, the following citizens were arrested in flagrante delicto:

KK, 38 years old, resident of Tirana, for the criminal offenses “Unlicensed production and possession of weapons, explosive weapons and ammunition” and “Production and sale of narcotics”;

JK, 34 years old, resident of Tirana, for the criminal offense of "Failure to report a crime".

The procedural materials were passed to the Tirana Prosecutor's Office for further action.
