Assassination of two Democratic lawmakers in Minnesota, Trump reacts: It will

United States President Donald Trump has reacted after an assassination attempt in the state of Minnesota, where Democratic Representative Melissa Hortman and her husband, Mark Hortman, were killed, while state Senator John Hoffman and his wife were seriously injured.

In a statement distributed by White House Press Secretary Caroline Leavitt on the social network X, Trump described the event as a "deliberate attack on state legislators."

He emphasizes that such horrific violence will not be tolerated in the United States of America.

"I have been briefed on the horrific shooting that occurred in Minnesota, which appears to have been a targeted attack on state legislators.

Our Attorney General, Pam Bondi, and the FBI are investigating the incident and will prosecute anyone involved to the fullest extent of the law.

"Such horrific violence will not be tolerated in the United States of America. God bless the wonderful people of Minnesota – a truly extraordinary place!" the White House wrote.

According to information released by the police, the suspected perpetrator of the murder of Melissa Hortman was disguised as a police officer. He wore a uniform and badge similar to that of an official and drove a vehicle that resembled police cars, which made it possible to enter the victims' property without suspicion.

Minnesota Superintendent Drew Evans stated that at around 2:00 a.m., authorities received an emergency call about the incident involving Senator Hoffman and his wife.

At around 3:35 a.m., during a proactive search of Hortman's home, officers encountered weapons and exchanged gunfire with the suspect, but the suspect managed to escape.
