Clashes at the Order of the Psychologist, Treska declares the elections invalid

The outgoing President of the Order of Psychologists, Valbona Treska, has refused to recognize the results of the June 5, 2025 elections, declaring the process invalid for procedural violations.

The decision was made by the institution's National Council, with 8 votes in favor, arguing that the condition of a simple majority of active members for the election of the new president and the new national council was not met.

"According to the Register of active members with voting rights of the Order of Psychologists on 05.06.2025, it results that the National Assembly consists of 1480 members. According to the minutes of the Electoral Commission, 451 members participated in the vote. Under these conditions, based on Law 40/2016, article 15, point 3, letter a), a simple majority of all members was not achieved to elect the President and the National Council," the decision states.

This development reopens tensions within the institution of psychologists in the country, as the transition process towards a new direction remains unclear. There is still no official reaction from the winning candidacy or the Electoral Commission on the decision of the National Council.
