German tourist injured on Gjipesa beach, hit by a dinghy's propeller

A German tourist was hit by a dinghy's propeller this afternoon on Gjipesa beach. 

Police report that he was hit by a raft driven by a young man outside the safety zone and at a considerable distance from the plugs that limit the swimming area, while he was diving near the floating vehicle.

Immediately after the incident, a helicopter was urgently called to the scene to transport the injured person to the hospital.

" Today, at around 1:40 PM, on Gjipesa beach, it is suspected that citizen KV, 27 years old, resident of Orikum, driving a rubber dinghy with regular documentation, outside the safety zone and at a considerable distance from the plugs that limit the swimming area, damaged, while he was diving near the dinghy, citizen DS, 46 years old, resident of Germany.

The Border Police Services of the Dhermi Border Police Station, immediately after receiving the notification, intervened by providing first aid to the injured person and then organized his immediate transportation to the hospital for medical assistance.

"Also, the Police services have escorted the driver of the vessel, citizen KV, to the Dhërmi Police Station, as well as other persons who were witnesses to this event ," the police announced. 

The work of the investigative group, under the direction of the Prosecutor's Office, continues to shed light on and fully document this event.
