PL: Albania, the last in the region for infrastructure! These roads do not lead

The Freedom Party, citing an OECD report, says that Albania ranks last in the region in terms of infrastructure and connectivity.

In a statement to the media, spokesperson Jasmira Memelli said that this ranking is alarming, especially considering that in 2024 alone, 400 million euros were spent from the State Budget on road infrastructure.

Statement:

According to the OECD report, Albania ranks last in the Region in terms of infrastructure and connectivity, despite the fact that the State Budget, according to official data from the Ministry of Finance, has spent 400 million euros on road infrastructure for 2024 alone.

Even with such a budget, the country's road and railway infrastructure continues to remain underdeveloped and inefficient compared to the standards of the Region.

Rail transport is almost out of operation, with minimal use and almost non-existent investment.

Road networks, especially rural ones, are beyond any standard, not even comparable to the standards of the Region, and the roads and tunnels that are inaugurated, surprisingly collapse or are closed shortly after their facade inauguration.

Dear citizens, this is not incompetence. This is theft by law.

This is an organized robbery, starting from the Prime Minister's office and ending in the pockets of the government's oligarchs and political clients.

400 million euros to have roads with potholes, landslides, lack of traffic signals, daily accidents, projects that never end or contracts that hide millions. An open insult to every Albanian who pays taxes. There is no clearer evidence than this of how misgovernment has captured every cell of the state and there can be no more serious violation of the trust of citizens.

These paths alone do not lead Albania towards the European Union; on the contrary, they penalize it.

The Freedom Party will not remain silent, we demand immediate transparency for every tender, contract and spent funds and a criminal investigation for the responsible officials.

Albania is not poor, Albania is robbed, and this government, which plays theater with ceremonial ribbons every day, is actually imposing poverty and injustice in every corner of this country.

Instead of building roads, this government is building villas for clients.

Instead of bringing development, it is burying the labor of citizens under the concrete of corruption.

The Freedom Party has denounced and will denounce this reality, to prevent theft from becoming normalized, to end impunity, and to return every penny stolen from the state budget.

Albania cannot be built on lies, but on justice, transparency and accountability.
