Erdogan calls Trump: We are ready to mediate for Iran

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan held a phone conversation with US President Donald Trump today, expressing Turkey's willingness to mediate in the crisis between Iran and the West over Tehran's nuclear program.

According to an official statement from the Presidency, Erdogan told Trump that Turkey is ready to play an active role in helping resolve the disputes that have escalated the situation and led to clashes between Israel and Iran. Erdogan warns of a "catastrophe that could burn the entire region."

Erdogan also welcomed Trump's recent statements on the possibility of reaching a peace agreement between Tehran and Tel Aviv, encouraging him to take concrete action.

"Immediate action is required to avoid a catastrophe that could set the entire region ablaze," Erdogan said, according to the official statement.
