The attempt to constitute the Assembly in Kosovo fails again

The members of the Kosovo Assembly have once again failed to constitute the ninth parliamentary composition, resulting from the February elections.


As of April 15, the new Parliament has not yet been constituted, because the Vetevendosje Movement, Guxo and Alternativa do not have enough votes to elect Albulena Haxhiu as Speaker of the Parliament.

Meanwhile, the Parliamentary Group of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo has sent to the Constitutional Court for legal interpretation the method of secret voting that Vetëvendosje, Guxo and Alternativa are requesting for the election of the Speaker of the Assembly.

The formation of the supervisory commission for organizing the secret ballot is facing opposition from the Democratic Party of Kosovo, the Democratic League of Kosovo, the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo and NISMA. It is worth noting that today's continuation of the session coincides with the 17th anniversary of the entry into force of the Constitution of the Republic of Kosovo.
