Cases of residential burglaries increase significantly during the summer

Summer, in addition to being the holiday season, is also the season where there is a significant increase in cases of thefts in homes, businesses, and vehicles.

As many citizens leave to enjoy the hot days at the coast or in tourist areas, thieves take advantage of homes left unattended by targeting safes, cash, or valuables.

New and repeat offenders of the criminal offense of theft use every opportunity to climb through windows or break doors and enter the homes they have targeted.

But the first 5 months of this year have also been filled with theft cases, with nearly 3 new cases reported to the police.

During the period January-May alone, 411 cases of theft were registered nationwide. The police have undertaken a series of investigative and operational-police actions, finalizing 102 operations to solve these criminal offenses.

Of these, 17 operations were for thefts committed with violence, while 4 criminal groups that operated in an organized manner, committing burglaries in homes and commercial entities, were also targeted.

As a result of these investigations, 278 cases of thefts that occurred in homes, businesses and vehicles in various areas of the country have been uncovered.

The State Police continues to call on citizens to take additional security measures when leaving their homes and one form of protection is to not post in real time on social networks while traveling./TCH
