The Albanian coasts, which welcome hundreds of foreign and domestic tourists every year, have returned to the media's attention on the eve of the opening of this summer season. Although these natural assets are highly coveted by vacationers, our country's coastline is unfortunately facing an increased threat from erosion and climate change.

In a report recently published by "TRT World", the factors that have influenced the changes along the coastline are presented. A specific case is the coastline in Velipojë. Geography professor Ervis Krymbi states that indiscriminate intervention in the hydrographic network of rivers disrupts the balance in nature and negatively affects the territory.

He stated that both man and nature are simultaneously influencing these changes that are being seen over the years on the Albanian coasts. Climate change and with the "help" of man are greatly affecting the coastline, which year after year can be seen with the naked eye.

Meanwhile, geography professor Klodian Skrame described the phenomenon as a truck traveling at 200 km/h and that the moment it stops, the vehicle will move a few meters further. According to him, even if measures are taken today, the impact will be felt after a decade. According to him, the erosion is in an advanced stage and must first be stopped and then recovered.

He says that erosion has caused the loss of natural beaches, reducing the attractiveness of tourist destinations and increasing the risk to tourist infrastructure, such as hotels and restaurants. However, according to him, those who suffer the consequences of this whole disaster are the people themselves.
