Can Trump convince Netanyahu to stop attacking Iran?

Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has called on Donald Trump to tell Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to stop targeting Iran.

In a post on social media, Araghchi says that if the US president "is sincere in diplomacy" and wants to stop the fighting, "a phone call from Washington is enough to silence someone like Netanyahu."

Alternatively, the foreign minister warns, the US "plunging" into violence will "destroy any prospect for a negotiated solution."

Earlier today, Trump refused to answer a question about what it would take for the US to become militarily involved in the conflict.

In a separate post on social media, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei called on the United Nations Security Council to intervene after Israel targeted Iran's state broadcaster.

Israel has justified the attack by saying the media center was being used for military purposes, however Baqaei calls it a "war crime."
