An Albanian with Canadian citizenship was arrested today by the Police after being accused of arms trafficking. Police say that Arben Qinami was caught in Rinas with a pistol firearm with combat ammunition hidden inside his luggage. 

According to the Police, the weapon, which was seized as material evidence, was being trafficked from Albania to Germany. 

"The Border Police Services of the Rinas BCP, in cooperation with the security services at the Rinas airport, finalized the police operation codenamed "Transit", within the framework of which a case of an attempt to traffic firearms from Albania to Germany was foiled.

During this operation, the Albanian citizen with Canadian citizenship AQ, residing in Canada, was caught red-handed at the exit from Albania and was put in handcuffs.

"From the scanner check, in the luggage of this citizen, 1 firearm, a pistol with combat ammunition, was found and seized as material evidence," the Police statement said. 

The procedural materials were passed to the Prosecutor's Office at the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction of Tirana, for further action, for the criminal offense of "Trafficking in weapons and ammunition."
