The Israeli military said on Tuesday it had killed Ali Shadmani, whom it identified as Iran's wartime chief of staff and said was its most senior military commander.
Shademani's position made him Iran's "Wartime Chief of Staff," the highest-ranking military commander and the closest figure to Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, the IDF stated.
Earlier, Iran launched a barrage of missiles towards Israel. The Israel Defense Forces have urged residents in Israel to follow the instructions of the Home Front Command.
