Depopulation/ PL raises the alarm: Albania has lost 29 thousand young people!
Myrvete Askeri

The Freedom Party has once again raised concerns today regarding emigration and the depopulation of the country.

In a statement to the media, the chairwoman of the Women's Movement for Integration into the Freedom Party, Myrvete Asqeri, has accused the government of being responsible for the departure of the country's youth.

According to her, the young population is disappearing from Albania, as a result of the government's anti-national agenda, while adding that if the departure of young people continues to increase, Albania will be forced to import labor, radically change the pension system, and face unimaginable social and economic consequences.

Considering it a national alarm rather than a political debate, PL says that if immediate and long-term measures are not taken, the changes that demographic reality will impose will be much more costly than any investment that can be made today.

Even Edi Rama's own statistics institute, INSTAT, claims that the great drama of depopulation continues.

In just one year, from 2023 to 2024, Albania has lost 29,000 young people, a dramatic figure that speaks to a bitter reality: the young population is disappearing from Albania, not because of any natural disaster or armed conflict, but as a result of the Sorosian anti-national agenda of depopulation.

Today we have fewer young people, fewer births and more emigration than ever before. The decline in fertility has reached critical levels. In 2023, fewer than 24 thousand births were registered throughout the country, one of the lowest historical levels. Albania is officially entering the era of demographic contraction. Albanian families are no longer having children not because they do not want to, but because they do not have economic, social and institutional security. Young people no longer build families in Albania because they do not see a future.

On the other hand, emigration continues at a frightening rate. Albanian youth are leaving en masse for EU countries and beyond. Instead of building policies that keep youth here, the government is content with empty slogans and television propaganda. Instead of opening new jobs with dignity, providing affordable housing and quality education, the government spends on concrete and facades.

The consequences of this misgovernance, which is forcing the youth to take the path of emigration, are already being felt today, we have fewer students in schools, fewer workers in the labor market, more burden on an increasingly aging population. If this pace continues, Albania will be forced to import labor, radically change the pension system, and face unimaginable social and economic consequences.

The decline in fertility and emigration are not natural processes, they are symptoms of a system that does not work. They are a reflection of the lack of family policies, the lack of perspective and the lack of dignity for the citizens of this country. And the worst thing is that the government sees these as statistics, not as a call for change.

Unless immediate and long-term measures are taken, the changes that demographic reality will impose will be far more costly than any investment that can be made today. This Narco-government is solely responsible for the gradual extinction of hope and the very future of this country.

This is a national alarm, not a political debate. Policies to encourage fertility, to support the family, to support youth and to stop immigration are not luxuries, they are necessities and the Freedom Party has concretized these policies in its program, 5 priorities for 4 million plus Albanians, where the main focus is to stop depopulation and strengthen the family, thus putting an end to the great drama of depopulation that has now become an open wound for Albania.
