The Prosecutor's Office at the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction in Elbasan has launched a criminal investigation against the company Eco Alb, escorting four of its officials to the police station today. Sources from the prosecutor's office confirmed that they were escorted following investigations into the management of the landfill and waste incinerator in Elbasan, as part of an investigation launched a year ago.

The investigation is related to the increase in cases of uncontrolled waste burning and suspicions of mismanagement of this process. According to sources, numerous documents have been seized from the Eco Alb company as part of the investigation.

In today's action, an investigative group, under the direction of the Elbasan prosecutor, Xhelian Seferi, and with the support of the police, has searched the premises of the Eco Alb company, which manages the landfill and the incinerator. During the period of Eco Alb's administration, the incinerator has had significant technical problems and has only functioned for short periods, while the waste field has occasionally erupted in fire, creating environmental uncertainty for the city.

The investigations are also focused on the private entity “Ergi” shpk, which has entered into a service contract with Eco Alb for waste management. There are strong suspicions that “Ergi” has not fulfilled its contractual obligations, leading to the opening of investigations for mismanagement of the Elbasan landfill and causing environmental pollution.
