Study: How social media use affects happiness levels

A new study from the University of Oxford has analyzed the link between social media use and people's levels of happiness. Researchers surveyed 2,000 people aged 16-45 and found that spending too much time on social media can significantly reduce emotional well-being.

According to the results:
•Users who spend more than 3 hours a day on social networks reported a lower level of happiness and more feelings of anxiety and loneliness.
•Those who use social networks for less than 1 hour a day had a more stable emotional state and reported more moments of happiness in their real lives.
•Users who use social networks for professional or educational purposes did not experience negative impacts, compared to those who use them mainly for entertainment or social comparisons.

Experts suggest that moderate and mindful use of social media can help increase happiness, while excessive use can create a sense of unfulfillment and isolation. They recommend regular breaks from social media and a greater focus on real-life relationships for healthier mental well-being.
