Even peppers with pesticides, Croatia returns Albanian products

Even peppers with pesticides, Croatia returns Albanian products

After tangerines and strawberries, another shipment of Albanian produce has been rejected at the border.

It concerns a shipment of peppers, which was headed to Croatia on March 12, but the EU's rapid alert system ( RASFF ) has found that the products had very high pesticide content, classified as high risk for the consumer. For RAFSS, the notification given at the border was: 'Serious' as it appears from the online notification.

This shipment was found to contain excessive amounts of "flonicamide", an insecticide used against hemipterous pests, such as aphids and whiteflies, and thysanopteran pests. The pesticide has moderate toxicity to mammals (which includes humans) and can be toxic to the liver and kidneys.
