6 typical habits of smart people

Is there a common point that makes smart people stand out? According to experts and analyses, the answer is yes, and it lies in their habits.

A Steelcase study of 10,000 workers in 17 countries found that the smartest workers are often easily distracted. A big part of this is endless reflection on various aspects and possibilities, referred to in English as “overthinking.”

We believe that smart people should be perfectly organized, clear about everything, and clean everywhere. However, research from the University of Minnesota has shown that highly intelligent people often live in chaos and do not consider order to be important. They are attracted to new ideas and solve other tasks, which pushes the organization of their environment to the side.

They are not organized, easily distracted, but they probably sleep well. Wrong. Smart people often prefer the night hours. Therefore, it is not true that every smart successful person wakes up with the chickens and before going to work has already exercised, meditated and organized an ideal quality breakfast.

Sleeping habits were the subject of a study published in 2024 in the journal BMJ Public Health. The research, led by academics from Imperial College London, analyzed data from more than 26,000 people. According to the research, it turned out that the most intelligent people go to bed later. Although it causes problems in their daily lives, as they have to adjust to waking up in the morning, this is a quality of theirs.

It is also interesting that intelligent people curse more often and more intensely. In general, it prevails that people of lower classes are more likely to use swear words. In reality, however, this is not the case and an interesting vocabulary and a worldview are also useful when commenting on a situation, but this does not mean that they should necessarily be vulgar.

Scientists have discovered that this technique helps intelligent people gather their thoughts, focus, and stimulate memory. So you definitely don't need to be ashamed of talking to yourself.

People with lower intelligence tend to be extremely confident and claim that they have the answers to all questions and can solve problems without difficulty. From their perspective, everything is easy and only a fool could not cope with it.

On the other hand, smarter people seem more reserved, sometimes even indecisive. However, this is due to the fact that they understand the field better, recognize their weaknesses and tend to underestimate themselves. But they also suspect what problems need to be solved and that the path to the goal will be significantly more complicated than those around them think./ TCH
