Britain and North Macedonia reach agreement on strategic partnership

The Prime Ministers of the United Kingdom and North Macedonia, Keir Starmer and Christian Mickoski, reached an agreement on a “strategic partnership” between the two countries during their meeting earlier today in Tirana.

The prime ministers of both countries assessed that the agreement means even stronger cooperation, stronger relations and an opportunity to deepen their relations.

"We have a strong relationship between our two countries. The fact that we reached this agreement is of great importance and shows that we will be able to solve many issues together. "I am very pleased with the meeting and the agreement and I think we have a lot to do together," said Keir Starmer.

Christian Mickowski said that the agreement foresees British investments of 6 billion euros in North Macedonia, mainly for the construction of infrastructure projects.

"With this intergovernmental agreement, I am convinced that we will have even greater bilateral cooperation, strengthen our ties and share the United Kingdom's experience in this part of the EU, as I believe that the Balkans is a place that offers opportunities," added the Prime Minister of North Macedonia.

The Prime Ministers of the United Kingdom and North Macedonia met today in Tirana, within the framework of the European Political Community Summit.

The Prime Minister of the United Kingdom said from Tirana that his country has begun talks with the governments of other countries to set up "return centers" for migrants whose asylum claims have been rejected in Britain.

According to the British newspapers "The Times" and "Telegraph", Britain's attention to creating such immigrant centers is focused mainly on Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and North Macedonia.
