Member of the Complaints and Sanctions Commission (KAS), Ledio Braho, made a statement to the media today from the 'Farie Hoti' sports palace in Tirana.

Braho said that so far less than 10% of the boxes have been counted and that from these boxes the SP and DP have lost votes.

 There have also been movements in the ranking of candidates.

"Less than 10% of the boxes have been counted. There have been changes in the major parties such as the DP and the SP, who have lost votes in this process... there have been movements of some candidates, some have resulted in having undeserved votes but some others have received fewer votes", said the KAS member.

Ledio Braho: We have instructed all the counters, who are staff of the CEC and not of political parties, that they are also ensuring maximum transparency. When there were votes that were questionable, they were always chosen by decision of the KAS.

The recount of votes in Tirana was about transparency and the opinions of some candidates that votes within the category had been embezzled.

Less than 10% of the ballot boxes have been counted. There have been changes in the major parties such as the DP and the SP, who have lost votes in this process... there have been movements of some candidates, some have resulted in having undeserved votes but others have received fewer votes.

So far, they have been controversial issues, you can't even call them errors, but they are a matter of subjectivity of the counting groups.

The recount process, which began on June 11, is taking place at the "Farie Hoti" sports palace in Tirana and involves 24 counting groups.

The decision to open the ballot boxes and recount the votes was made by the KAS following the request of two of its members who supported the opposition's demands.

The opposition does not recognize the May 11 election results while denouncing what it considers to be an electoral farce to Western chancelleries. The DP is preparing a complete dossier of electoral manipulation to submit to foreign chancelleries.
