Session in the Criminal Court, MP Qani Xhafa is fined

The Special Court against Corruption and Organized Crime has begun a trial against MP Qani Xhafa, accused by SPAK of drunk driving.

The MP was represented by his lawyer, Marash Logu.

During the hearing, the prosecutor in the case, Sotir Kllapi, announced the claim against Xhafa, emphasizing that he committed the criminal offense of driving while intoxicated, which seriously violated the legal relations of road traffic.

 Kllapi requested the MP's guilty plea and his sentence of 6 months in prison, converted into one year of probation, asking the court to take into consideration his status as an MP and as a family member.

The defense, on the other hand, accepted the charges, emphasizing that his client has cooperated with justice and shown civic responsibility.

"It was an isolated case after a family celebration, and he was returning home. His behavior proves that he is an educated and conscientious person," said lawyer Logu, requesting the minimum sentence and the application of community service.

At the end of the session, the Court decided to sentence the MP to a fine of 900 thousand lek, which he must pay within a few days.
