Opposition protest, Bylykbashi: This electoral system must definitely change

The Democratic Party organized a protest on May 16th on the New Boulevard, the same day that an international summit is taking place in Tirana.

DP Vice President Oerd Bylykbashi said at the protest that the May 11 elections did not meet democratic standards, so the election results are a total use of the state and crime.

According to him, European leaders are witnesses to the opposition's protest over electoral crime and that this system needed to be changed.

"Total use of the state and crime. It is enough to follow a candidate's vote to find the crime. Follow the candidate to find the crime, to understand the message. In Durrës they did their best to achieve 9 mandates with crime, but they did not succeed. In other districts they did it, with violence, with intimidation. These are elections that only democratic standards have not been achieved.

Today, fortunately, European leaders are witnessing the opposition's protest against electoral crime. Elections and the concepts of elections have been shattered. It will lead to continuous deterioration, this electoral system must definitely change. After the unilateral changes of 2020, it no longer guarantees the right of citizens to vote.

"No electoral system can withstand this momentum of criminal money, of the state merging with crime. No law has been made to protect the vote in the face of this crime. This system had to be changed. The Socialist Party refused to do it. It cooked soup with a scoundrel in parliament. The problems that are being identified are sufficient evidence to change this electoral system. There can be no case for the law to replace political will, to hold fair elections or to hold elections together with crime ," he said.
