New Israeli bombings in Gaza, over 100 killed in 24 hours

At least 103 people have been killed in the latest Israeli bombardment of the Gaza Strip, according to Palestinian emergency authorities. The attacks mainly hit the northern and southern parts of the besieged territory, which has been under an escalating Israeli military offensive for more than 19 months.

The bombing campaign began after the October 7, 2023, attack by the Islamist group Hamas on southern Israel, considered the heaviest in the Jewish state's history. Since then, the Palestinian enclave has faced a severe humanitarian crisis, while international aid efforts have increased.

A US-backed non-governmental organization announced that it plans to begin distributing humanitarian aid to Gaza by the end of this month.

In a separate development, Israeli authorities have launched a massive manhunt for the perpetrators of an attack last night in the occupied West Bank that killed a pregnant Israeli woman. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed to use "all means" to catch the perpetrators.

Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump, who is on a visit to the Middle East, stated today in Doha that he wants the United States to take steps to transform some Palestinian territories into a "free zone", without providing details on the nature or purpose of this controversial initiative.
