A 37-year-old Albanian man has been arrested by Croatian authorities on charges of continuous stalking and attempted murder of a 26-year-old woman from Bosnia and Herzegovina, who is temporarily staying in Croatia.

According to Croatian police, the serious events began in July last year and lasted until mid-May this year. During this time, the suspect constantly followed the young woman, went to her workplace several times and exerted pressure to establish a romantic relationship, despite her constant rejections.

The incident culminated on May 13 in the city of Dubrovnik, where the Albanian man physically attacked a relative of the girl. He punched the young man in the head and then, threatening to kill him, attempted to stab him in the neck with a sharp object. Fortunately, the attack was interrupted by an employee of a nearby bar, who intervened to prevent the tragedy.

Both the victim of the attack and the citizen who intervened to help him were slightly injured in the incident.

After the rapid intervention of the police, the perpetrator was arrested and, after the completion of the criminal investigation and the filing of a criminal report, was taken into custody at the Dubrovnik-Neretva County Police.

Croatian authorities have announced that the suspect faces several serious charges, including stalking, physical violence and attempted murder.
