The Special Appeal has overturned the decision of the GJKKO, ending efforts to launch a criminal investigation against former minister Olta Xhaçka.
The panel headed by Judge Iliriana Olldashi decided to annul Decision No. 58 of the Special Court of First Instance, which had ordered the Special Prosecution Office to register criminal proceedings and initiate investigations into several serious charges including “Abuse of office”, “Forgery of documents” and “Money laundering”.
The Appeals Court's decision follows an appeal filed by the Special Prosecution Office, thus reinstating its previous decision not to proceed with a criminal investigation.
