After meeting with Starmer, will he make a deal for refugees from Britain? Here's how Rama responds

After meeting with Starmer, will he make a deal for refugees from Britain?

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer is on an official visit to Tirana. After being asked by journalists, Edi Rama denied having agreements with the UK or other countries similar to the one with Italy regarding illegal refugees from African countries.

Rama said that the agreement with Italy was made due to the special relationship between the two countries and thanks to the geographical situation.

He further added that there are many other countries that have asked Albania to sign similar agreements as with Italy, but according to him, our country is loyal to its marriage with Italy and relations with other countries, according to the Prime Minister, are simply love.

" I have been very clear since the first day we started this process with Italy, that this was a single agreement with Italy, because of our special relationship, but also thanks to the geographical situation which is very meaningful. To be honest with you, a number of countries have asked us if we were open to such a thing and we have said no, because we are faithful to the marriage with Italy and the rest is just love", said Rama.

On the other hand, the British Prime Minister has also said that his country is discussing such an agreement with many other countries.

" We are discussing this issue with a number of countries in terms of these return centres. And I actually see this as an innovative new and important issue, which is in line with the work that we have done on, for example, reducing the numbers from Albania, the record number of returns that we have had... And we are having these discussions in the meantime ," Starmer said.
