Police use EU Summit, deny permission for May 16 protest

The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, announced two days ago the organization of a protest in defense of the Albanian vote, on May 16.

The protest will be held on New Boulevard at 5:00 PM.

But, despite the announcement that the protest would be peaceful, the police did not grant permission to the DP, claiming that the European Political Community Summit was being held on the same day.

As part of the summit, several road axes are blocked and this has been used by the police as an argument to not grant permission to the opposition for the protest.
