Thousands of votes, but outside the Parliament: Here are the names of the DP

Despite receiving thousands of preferential votes from citizens, 23 Democratic Party candidates will not be part of the new Parliament. The reason? The low number of mandates that the Democratic Party secured on closed lists in the districts, which penalized many of the figures voted on open lists.

One of the most symbolic cases is that of Xhemal Gjunkshi in Dibër, who collected 5,693 votes, coming first on the open list of the DP. However, he will not be in Parliament, as the DP only received two mandates on the closed list in this district.

A similar situation occurred in Durrës, where Aulon Kalaja, an activist and public figure, received 7,069 votes, ranking second on the open list after Arjan Ndoji, but without managing to secure a mandate, because the DP only won one MP through the open list.
