OSCE/ODIHR report 'blackened' the May 11 elections, Rama: We cannot hold elections like in Denmark

OSCE/ODIHR report 'blackened' the May 11 elections, Rama: We cannot

Prime Minister Edi Rama was asked today at the conclusion of the Summit regarding the OSCE/ODIHR report on the findings on election day, as it identified serious violations and abuses by the ruling party.

The OSCE/ODIHR report emphasizes that the Socialist Party used the administration and put pressure on administration officials. It also highlighted Rama's serious and unprecedented violation of the Electoral Code by forgiving fines 2 days before the elections.

Meanwhile, Rama said that whatever needs to be improved will be addressed election after election.

"I must say that what you quoted are a few sentences of a much longer and more comprehensive statement that welcomed the Albanian elections and referred to the allegations related to the preliminary report, and preliminary reports are drafted to be further checked and confronted with evidence. So I would say in this regard, the elections are the expression of the will of the Albanian people 100% not 99."

For the rest, whatever needs to be improved will be addressed without a doubt. We have done this election after election. This is how we have improved our electoral process, which is not yet like in Denmark, but which is much better than it was and is in line with OSCE/ODIHR standards regarding free and fair elections.
