Danish Prime Minister: Rearmament of Europe should be everyone's priority

Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen stated at a joint press conference in Tirana with Prime Minister Edi Rama that Europe must arm itself and be capable of defending itself.

She stressed that Russia is a major threat, not only to Ukraine but to everyone.

From the most depopulated city, Tirana, Frederiksen emphasized that in Europe immigration has been uncontrolled and the consequences are now innumerable.

Mette Frederiksen: It has been a very warm welcome here, Europe is facing a number of challenges, we need this format where we have in this case countries that are not EU member states sitting at the table to discuss important issues.

We are ready to take the baton and I want to emphasize that security will be our main priority issue, as we live in a very insecure world today. Russia is a major threat, not only to Ukraine but to all of us.

Because of cyberattacks, misinformation, and they are trying to destroy our democracy, rearming Europe should be the number one priority for us.

If we are not ready to protect each other, how can we help others. Issue number one is secured. Ukraine has committed to a 30-day unconditional ceasefire, but we have not seen any signals from Russia, so we need to push Russia by adding more sanctions to end the war. As you said, we are a big market for our companies, our firms, the competition is important. We need to end the supply of fuel, gas, oil from Russia. We need to be competitive so that customers across Europe can have low-cost, green energy.

Another important topic is immigration. The situation varies from country to country, but in Europe I would say that immigration has been almost uncontrolled and the consequences are now innumerable. I would like to highlight these three main issues.
