Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky had a telephone conversation with US President Donald Trump during his stay in Tirana.

Also present at that moment were French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, along with his Polish counterpart, Donald Tusk.

Zelensky revealed through a post on social media that the focus of the discussions was the meeting in Istanbul.

"I spoke with the President of the United States, together with President Macron, Federal Chancellor Merz, and Prime Ministers Starmer and Tusk. We discussed the meeting in Istanbul. Ukraine is ready to take the fastest possible steps to bring about real peace, and it is essential that the world maintains a strong and united stance."

"Our position is clear: if Russia refuses a full and unconditional ceasefire and an end to the killings, then tough sanctions must be imposed. Pressure on Russia must continue until it is ready to end the war. Thank you to everyone around the world who is helping us," Zelensky wrote.
