Berisha: The right of Albanians to vote as free citizens is our greatest goal

Sali Berisha, in a statement to the media, emphasized that the major goal of the true Albanian opposition is the restoration of citizens' right to vote as free people.

Berisha stopped short of participating in the plenary session of the Executive Bureau of the International Democratic Union (IDU), where, together with Fatmir Mediu, he denounced the May 11 electoral farce in Albania before the global leadership of the center-right.

He stressed that the reports of the OSCE/ODIHR, the European Parliament and the Council of Europe are clear evidence of manipulation and have been received with indignation by international representatives, who compared the situation in Albania to that of Maduro's Venezuela.

On the other hand, together with Fatmir Mediu, in the plenary session of the executive bureau attended by the chairmen and representatives of all political parties affiliated with the IDU, it was a golden opportunity to advocate for the stolen vote of Albanian citizens, before the international leadership of the center-right and conservative force.

In this context, the report of international observers, OSCE-ODIHR, the European Parliament and the Council of Europe, is an extremely valuable document.

But the shocking facts taken from this report and our findings were presented in the plenary session, during the debates on the state of the world, and aroused indignation and condemnation from those present, who understood that the situation in Albania was that of a narco-dictatorship similar to Maduro's Venezuela, or other similar drug and crime regimes.

In conclusion, I can say to Albanians that this very important first step in protecting their vote, which came after a series of major acts embodied in 4 resolutions condemning Edi Rama's drug regime, was therefore another continuation and success in achieving our goal.

The battle to protect the vote is a battle that will take place in Albania, but it will also take place abroad, but elections are a process that is both national and international. 

We are committed to making every effort to protect and restore the right of Albanians to vote as free citizens.

This is the major goal of the DP and the true Albanian opposition.

Today, those who do not define this objective as their highest goal are simply a pawn of the narco-dictator, a speaker, or his lackey.

We will stand with all our potential and strength.
