Scandal with diaspora votes for Lezha, 50 more than the envelopes, Tabaku

A tense situation was recorded this afternoon in the Olympic Park, where the counting of diaspora votes continues, after a difference was found between the number of uncounted envelopes and the votes found in the boxes belonging to the Lezha district.

According to data initially published by the CEC, at the end of the process for this district, 622 votes remained to be counted. However, when the ballot boxes were opened, it was revealed that there were 671 votes – a difference of about 50 votes more.

DP MP Jorida Tabaku raised concerns that this difference compromises the process:

"Now that they are being counted, there are 658. There should have been 622 uncounted. It is a difference of 50 votes," she said, adding that "we have been told every hour that there are no additional envelopes. If it changes every hour, the whole account changes."

Another opposition representative, Gjin Gjoni, also highlighted the lack of transparency regarding the total number of envelopes received:

"You should have come up with a total result and then started counting. If we add water and flour, the result changes," he said.

The Chairman of the CEC, Ilirjan Celibashi, admitted that there is a problem with the accuracy of the data:

"50 votes is a lot. But we will see in the system what has been updated and what has not. We have it digitally inventoried in the warehouse, but another part has not. No ballots have been entered, but yes, the count may not have been correct. We are doing the verifications," he explained.
