Tragic accident in Peshkopi, police officer Veli Gjura dies at Trauma Hospital

A serious incident has ended with the loss of life for police officer Veli Gjura, who passed away this Sunday at the Trauma Hospital, a few days after a serious accident in the city of Peshkopia.

The incident occurred while Gjura was walking on the sidewalk and was hit by a "Golf" type vehicle that left the road. The vehicle was driven by a 27-year-old man with the initials A.Sh., who is suspected of having lost control of the vehicle due to alcohol consumption.

After colliding with the officer, the vehicle also crashed into a shop next to the road. The police have arrested the driver of the vehicle and escorted him to the police station, where further procedural actions are being taken against him.

The event has shocked the city of Peshkopia and the ranks of the State Police, where Officer Gjura had served for years.
