Kremlin accuses Germany of possible 'escalation' of war in Ukraine
Russia has accused Germany of taking a stance that could lead to an escalation of the war in Ukraine.

Friedrich Merz, who will take office as German Chancellor next month, has suggested that his country could provide Kiev with long-range Taurus missiles, Sky News reports.

Asked by German public broadcaster ARD whether he would supply the weapons, Merz said he would consider it if it was part of a broader support package agreed with European allies.

"This must be achieved jointly," he said. "And if it is agreed, then Germany must participate."
