The hearing for former Defense Minister Fatmir Mediu, regarding the Gërdec tragedy file, has been postponed again.
According to sources, the reason for the postponement was the request of prosecutors Arben Kraja and Klodian Braho, who are engaged in other court proceedings. The next session is scheduled for March 18, at 12:00.
Former Minister Mediu is being investigated for the tragic event of March 15, 2008, when the explosion of a weapons dismantling workshop in Gërdec caused the death of 26 people and the injury of hundreds of others.
Mediu has been charged with “Abuse of Duty” and “Abuse of Duty in Collaboration with Military Subjects-Commanding Cadres.” He has denied the charges, emphasizing that during his time in office he has always enforced the law.
