"They are behaving like Adil Charçani's police",

The vice-president of the DP, Agron Gjekmarkaj, spoke after the opposition's protest today in Tirana, accompanied by tensions between the protesters and the police.

Invited to News 24, Gjekmarkaj addressed a call to Tirana Police Station No. 6 to behave as part of the State Police and not as a criminal phalanx.

" Peaceful protesters are being arrested, including the chairman of the DP branch of Lezha, Gjin Gjoni. We were provoked by the police, there was disproportionate violence. They threw pepper water and tear gas at the protesters, including the elderly ," said Gjekmarkaj. He said that the police pushed the deputies, the citizens.

He said the delays were severe, especially for women and the elderly. "This police is behaving like that of Adil Charçan in 1991" , said Gjekmarkaj. He appealed to the police leaders not to provoke the situation further.

Gjekmarkaj said that segments of society, even citizens who are not members of the DP, joined the protest, blocked the road, to unblock the political rotation in Albania.
