After Veliaj's arrest, SPAK also takes the SP MP under investigation

Tirana Mayor Erion Veliaj was escorted today by BKH and SPAK, following an action at Tirana Municipality. He is accused of passive corruption and money laundering, while the measure for him was set by judge Erjon Bani.

In addition, SPAK requested house arrest for his wife Ajola Xoxa and an "obligation to appear" for businessmen Gentian Sula, Meriman Palushi, Fatmir Bektashi, Sokol Kryeziu and Shkelqim Fusha. The latter are suspected of having received dubious tenders from the Municipality of Tirana.

In addition to them, Socialist Party MP Klotilda Bushka is also reported to have been placed under investigation following the arrest of Mayor Veliaj.

The latter has been registered by SPAK as a person suspected of committing the criminal offense of "Acts that impede the discovery of the truth."

"The Special Prosecution is conducting preliminary investigations against the deputy of the Albanian Parliament, citizen Klotilda Bushka. The latter's name has been registered in the relevant register of notifications as a person suspected of committing the criminal offense of "Acts that impede the discovery of the truth ", provided for by Article 301 of the Criminal Code.

Up to this stage, it is established that there is concrete data that leads to reasonable suspicion that the person under investigation, Klotilda Bushka, has committed active illegal actions that have interfered with the investigation of the prosecuting body in relation to criminal proceeding no. 27 of 2024.

"The Special Prosecution Office Against Corruption and Organized Crime thanks the State Police for their cooperation in the execution phase of security measures," SPAK's response states.
