On the anniversary of her father's murder, Rudina Hajdari reveals why she did not join the tributes
Rudina Hajdari was absent from the tribute ceremony organized to mark the 26th anniversary of the murder of her father, Azem Hajdari.
The ceremony, held near his monument in Tirana, included senior representatives of the Democratic Party, friends and relatives, but Hajdari was not present.
Rudina Hajdari shared the reason for her absence through a post on Instagram. She says that for 25 years she has followed the same routine on this day, visiting the memorial and the cemetery, and meeting with relatives and friends of her father, Azem Hajdari. But this year, she decided to send her daughter to school.
In her post, Rudina writes: "Dad, for 26 years, this day has always been waiting for me with the same routine: visits to the memorial, the cemetery and meetings with your relatives and friends. Today, I decided to send your niece to school. I remember that you will not have the opportunity to meet Sihana, your niece, who is often said to look like you. How much you would have liked to see it, I imagine. I missed you so much, dad. I hope you can see us from above and be proud of us."
Azem Hajdari, one of the main leaders of the student movement of the 90s, was shot dead on September 12, 1998, just a few meters from the Parliament building. He played an important role in the student movement of December 1990, which led to the overthrow of the communist regime and the establishment of political pluralism in Albania.
