Today is the 22nd anniversary of the liberation of Pristina by Serbian forces. After the signing of the Kumanovo agreement on June 9, 1999 between NATO forces and the Yugoslav army, the withdrawal of the Serbian army from Kosovo began.

The agreement was signed by Michael Jackson, the first KFOR commander in Kosovo, and former Serbian Army Chief of Staff General Nebojsa Pavkovic, The Hague indictee for war crimes and genocide in Kosovo.

The attacks, which began in late March and lasted for 78 days, were repulsed on June 10, following NATO intervention. With the intervention of NATO, the temporary mission of the United Nations-UNMIK was established, which administered the country until the declaration of independence, on February 17, 2008.
