Art in mourning, tenor Gjergj Sulioti passes away

Tenor Gjergj Sulioti has passed away at the age of 74. The sad news has been confirmed by the Opera and Ballet Theatre.

" Sad about the death of tenor Gjergj Suljoti! Born in a family of intellectuals and musicians from Korça, Suljoti continued the path of music, graduating from the High Institute of Arts. In 1978, he was appointed soloist in TKOB.

In addition to working as a soloist in the Opera and Ensemble, he never broke away from light music, participating in many Festivals, such as those at the end of the year, as well as the May Concerts.

But in his operatic career he has played the most important characters in our history, such as the role of Trimor from the opera "Goca e Kaçaniku" from 1979 and the role of Muji from the opera "Vjosa" by Tish Daisa from 1980, which they suited his nature so well. In 1982, he participated in the opera "Skenderbeu", in which he played the role of Lekë Dukagjin.

For us, and his friends and colleagues at TKOB, he always remained "Loni" from the operetta "Carnivals of Korça", a role that Gjergji gave his best, to turn it into a character loved by the public.

Farewell Gjergj Suljoti, condolences to family and friends! "- said in the reaction of TOKB.

Suljoti was one of the main tenors of the Opera and Ballet Theater, he performed the main roles in operas such as: Carmen, Mountains for freedom, Pagliaç i, Tosca, Rigoletto, Il trovatore, Aida, Paja, Otello, Mother of the Brave, Cellula e Red, Carnivals, The Flower of Memories, The Barber of Seville, Goca e Kaçanik, Vjosa, Our Land, Skanderbeu, Traviata, Borana, Awakening, Lyceists, Mother of the Brave, etc.
