An autopsy has been performed on Diego Maradona and no alcohol or narcotics have been found in his body at the time of his death. The Argentine died at the age of 60 on November 25, just two weeks after being released from hospital after undergoing brain surgery.

According to the Argentine news agency Télam, a preliminary autopsy earlier this month determined that Maradona died in his sleep after suffering an acute pulmonary edema (from a buildup of fluid in the lungs). According to the media, the report revealed that no illegal drugs or alcohol was present in Maradona's body at the time of his death, however it did reveal the presence of drugs used to treat depression and anxiety.

He also found that Maradona's kidneys and liver were badly damaged and that his heart weighed more than 500 grams, roughly twice the average.
