People of a certain generation will be excited by Elon Musk's "announcement" to bring back TikTok rival Vine. According to foreign media, new Twitter owner Musk, 51, has said he may want to change the social media landscape even further by bringing back Vine.

So on Sunday night, he asked his followers what they thought of Vine and engaged in a conversation with a prominent YouTuber. At the time of writing, almost over 2 million people had voted in Musk's Twitter poll, with almost 70 percent of people telling the Tesla CEO that he should bring back Vine. While YouTuber MrBeast, who has more than 100 million subscribers, seemed excited by Musk's proposal.

"If you did that and competed with [TikTok] that would be fun," replied MrBeast, whose real name is Jimmy Donaldson. Thus, the comments section following this tweet was filled with suggestions on how the two video-focused social media sites could compete.

Vine was a favorite online app in the 2010s that officially launched in January 2013, but was then discontinued in its original form in January 2017. The timeline forced users to get creative, with many people used the site for short comic creations and artistic expression. As with TikTok, users can use video editing tools to make their videos original. Vine was created by Dom Hofmann, Colin Kroll and Rus Yusupov (who also co-created HQ Trivia). Twitter bought Vine for $30 million in October 2012, three months before it officially went online. While other platforms like YouTube and Instagram started introducing their own video creation software, Twitter announced in October 2016 that it will discontinue the Vine app.
