"He has totally violated the law", Teliti: None of Veliaj's

The Deputy Mayor of Tirana, Dorian Teliti, has spoken about the violations that, according to him, Tirana Mayor Erion Veliaj has committed, who has been in prison custody since February 10 on charges of corruption and money laundering, but who has not yet been charged with the Tirana incinerator.

Invited to 'MCN Informacion', he stated that none of Veliaj's signatures for the Tirana incinerator are justified.

According to him, the municipal council could stop payments for the incinerator that does not exist, but this would happen if the Socialist Party did not use its power of attorney and reject the opposition's proposals.

"The mayor's signatures are not justified, and we have been protesting continuously to stop his irresponsibility, but also for the continued payments for an incinerator that does not exist.

This was a thesis based on facts because an incinerator that needs space, equipment, a building, its non-existence clearly speaks of a corruption affair and millions of euros have disappeared and it is not known where they are.

"Of course, the municipal council can stop payments for the incinerator that does not exist, but the Socialist Party has 34 seats in the municipal council and they abuse their power to reject any proposal that comes from the opposition. The fact that it has been established that the incineration does not exist, the fee should have been reduced, but this has not happened," he said.

Asked why SPAK has still accused Veliaj of the incinerator, Teliti said that we cannot talk about a lack of evidence because, according to him, an on-site inspection is enough, while adding that he must act as soon as possible on these major corruption scandals.

'I wouldn't say it's due to lack of evidence because verification is done on the ground and it's that simple. As for the measures not taken, he should have been brought to justice an hour ago for the major affairs for which he has been accused by our side, such as the incinerator or the 5D affair.

"He must be held responsible for the big affairs and show where that money is so that it can be returned to the coffers of the Tirana municipality. Veliaj has taken over the municipal council's powers for the construction of the incinerator and with this document he has completely violated the law ," said Teliti.
