Fatmir Mediu discusses the May 11 elections with US Senators Mike Lee and John

The Chairman of the Republican Party, MP Fatmir Mediu, held meetings with two American senators, Mike Lee and John Cornyn, where the May 11 parliamentary elections in Albania were discussed.

In a post on social media, Mediu writes that with Senator Mike Lee, discussions focused on the problems caused by corruption, organized crime, and disrespect for free and fair elections, which constitute the greatest threat to any democracy, including Albania.

Mediu underlines that the US administration will be in support of Albania as a NATO member country, and as such, Albania must fulfill its obligations for free and fair elections on May 11, preventing crime and corruption from influencing the electoral process and intimidating voters.

In the meeting with Senator John Cornyn, member of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, Mediu emphasized that the Assembly will send an observation group for the May 11 elections in Tirana, which will closely follow any electoral problems in cooperation with the ODHIR observation mission.

These meetings underscore the commitment of Albanian political leaders to ensure a clean and transparent electoral process.
