Spectacular escape from Dozza prison, an Albanian convicted of robbery escapes

An Albanian prisoner, Fatbardh Mneraj, 34, managed to escape last night from the Dozza prison in Bologna, Italy. He was convicted of robbery and spent most of his time at large, due to a semi-free regime.

According to Italian media, the Albanian was informed that he would lose his freedom privilege due to another sentence and would be returned to the inner section of the prison. During the transfer, he escaped and broke out of the prison without leaving any trace.

The main hypothesis is that the guards left the door open and the Albanian took advantage of the moment when an officer was busy, escaping control. The prison police have distributed his photos and personal data and are searching for him.

Dozza prison, which is known for its "semi-freedom" regime, is no stranger to escapes, with recent such cases occurring last year and before, including a massive attempt in 2011.
