Berisha in Strasbourg, Kraja: He went as a legitimate leader in a country where

The Democratic Party's candidate for deputy in Tirana has commented on the meetings at the EPP in Strasbourg of Democratic leader Sali Berisha with internationals.

Invited to Syri TV, he said that Berisha went there for the May 11 elections and for a return to the international arena as a legitimate leader in a country where the opposition is targeted, or in a country where opposition media are anathema.

Kraja : For the audience following us, let us clarify once again the meaning of this visit. We are talking once again about the Political Assembly of the Council of Europe, which brings together political leaders elected by national parliaments across the European continent. So it is a political Assembly that focuses in particular on issues of political rights, economic rights, social rights, democracy and human rights. The Council of Europe is the institution that protects and guarantees the values of the West, which are embodied in the Council of Europe's Charter of Human Rights.

Where of course one of them is a fair judicial process, a fair democratic process, a free economy, freedom of the press and so on. We are talking about an institution that guarantees the most fundamental freedom of what constitutes our European identity.

Sali Berisha was invited as the leader of the Albanian opposition. An opposition that has been politically hit with all three of its leaders, physically abused, but you already know the story of leader Berisha for a year held under house arrest unjustly. So we are in a reality where Albanian politics is slipping from these fundamental values that guarantee political freedoms for every force in this case the Democratic Party and where European voters raise this dictatorial slide in Albania with concern. Where also came the news that in the next elections, the Political Assembly of the EC will bring a powerful deep delegation to observe these slippages and abuses of the electoral process in Albania.

The second moment. We have therefore explained the importance of this institution and this extremely important, not merely symbolic, visit. Sali Berisha's visit is in a continuity that began with the final confirmation as leader of the DP, followed by the three resolutions of the European People's Parties, which embody the democratic values of the right and the western center-right. It continued with the invitation a few weeks ago to the Western Balkans summit in Podgorica, where leader Berisha was alongside other leaders of the Western Balkans. And here we are today in the capital of European democracy, which is Strasbourg.

Where the European Court of Human Rights is. And there he comes not for an individual battle but as a victor, as a comeback. If you have even noticed during the meeting with the President of the Political Assembly of the EC, he said welcome, Mr. President..... He is going there for Albania for the May 11 elections and for a comeback in the international arena as a legitimate leader in a country where the opposition is being attacked, in a country where opposition media are being anathema. It is in continuation of this battle that has the name Re-establishment....

This return aims for only one thing. To free Albania from corruption....
