"Strawberries are rotting in greenhouses"/Frakulla farmers heading for

Farmers in the Frakulla area of Fier, known for cultivating strawberries, are facing a severe economic crisis due to the drastic drop in prices and the lack of a market for sales.

According to them, in the past week the price of strawberries has dropped from 150 lek/kg to just 40 lek/kg, putting them in a hopeless situation. Despite the fact that the production is of high quality and meets all standards, including the absence of dangerous pesticides, the strawberries are not being sold on the market.

"Our greenhouse production has rotted. If it continues like this, we will throw it into the river. We have no other choice," the desperate farmers say.

They claim that this is the most difficult year for strawberry growers, while the lack of institutional support is pushing them towards complete bankruptcy.

Farmers are seeking the intervention of state institutions to ensure market access, price stabilization, and subsidies to avoid losses that, according to them, are unaffordable.
