The body of Archbishop Anastasios Janullatos arrives in Albania

The body of the Archbishop of Albania, Anastas Janullatos, arrived in the early hours of the morning at the Kakavija border crossing, where he will be greeted with a memorial ceremony.

The procession will head towards Tirana. He is accompanied by Metropolitan of Apollonia and Fier Nikolla, Bishop Anastas Krougias and priests Fr. Charalambos Giokas and Fr. Spiridon Topantzas, who were his close collaborators and friends in the revival of the Church of Albania after several decades of persecution.

On behalf of the Church of Greece, the accompanying person is the Vice-President of the Holy Synod, Metropolitan of Nafpaktos and Agios Vlasios Ierotheos.

The Holy Synod of the Church of Albania announced that the reception for the canonization of Blessed Archbishop Anastasios at the Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ in Tirana will take place on Tuesday, January 28, 2025 at 4:00 PM.

The Exodioce Mass will be held on Thursday, January 30, at 11:00 a.m. The Church of Albania has declared five days of mourning from January 25 to 29, 2025.
